Finalist: “The Nielsen concerto contains crazy things”

“The concerto has jumps and scales I hadn’t tried before”, says Ji Yoon Lee.

”It’s a really demanding piece”, says Ji Yoon Lee of Carl Nielsen’s Violin Concerto, which she is going to play in the finals of the 2016 Carl Nielsen International Violin Competition.

- There are so many technical aspects. There are so many crazy scales, octaves, shiftings, jumps … things that I was not so used to”, Ji Yoon Lee says, although she doesn’t think the concerto is unplayable: “One just has to practice enough, I think”.
