Last night’s finals were full of unexpected awards. One of these was a shared fourth prizd Nikolaj Znaider and the jury decided to award to the three semi-finalists who’d failed to make the final cut.

One of the things that has been hard for all of us is not to decide who to let through to the next round but to let go of people who are not afforded the opportunity t to go to the next round”, Nikolaj Znaider began.

But we were given the opportunity with the kind cooperation of the Competition and the Odense Symphony Orchestra to award some additional prizes as a token of the jury’s appreciation for many performances that we weren’t able to reward with entrance to the following round. We should like to award three more prizes: in effect we will award a shared Fourth Prize between the following contestants: We Soo-Hyun Park, Ji Won Song, and Karen Kido.”
