Sheet music goes AWOL: “I may have looked calm but inside me my heart was racing!”

Karen Kido left her score in the wings. Check out her reaction here!

We see twenty-one-year-old Karen Kido from Japan whisper to her accompanist and suddenly he disappears into the wings!

She is well into her programme for the first round of the Carl Nielsen Violin Competition and about to play the Mozart sonata. But suddenly she realizes she has left the score backstage!

Her accompanist, Jonathan Siahaan, slips off to retrieve it, and while he is off the platform Karen Kido faces the audience as she waits. She looks as cool as a cucumber but she tells us she was far from it.

- I told myself: ‘Just keep really, really calm!’ But inside me my heart was racing! she told us afterwards.

Her accompanist soon returned with her score and they embarked on the sonata.

Watch Karen Kido keep her cool in the face of the unexpected!
